Hiking tips:

Kreistenalm:
You can comfortably reach the Kreistenalm with the Alpendorf gondola. You will find our restaurant nestled between forests and mountains at 1,280 meters above sea level right next to the Gernkogel chairlift. With an ideal view of the fabulous Salzach Valley. Let yourself be pampered on our sun terrace!

Maurachalm:
The northernmost alpine pasture in Grossarltal is the Maurachalm at 1,620 m. You can reach the Maurachalm either along the hiking trail, the forest path or you can take the gondola lift in St. Johann / Alpendorf or Wagrain to the mountain station and hike comfortably to the Maurachalm. Mountain bikers reach this alpine pasture via the forest path. The alpine people pamper the hikers with homemade delicacies, fresh donuts and particularly exquisite schnapps such as rowan berries or elderberries. People like to sing and make music in this alpine hut.

Vogei Hüttn:
The Vogei Hüttn is a popular excursion destination at the mountain station of the former Hahnbaum chairlift at 1,130 m above sea level in St. Johann im Pongau. Tasty Austrian delicacies and homemade pastries are served in the rustic dining room or on the large sun terrace.

Sonntagskogel:
You can easily reach the hiking area with the Alpendorf gondola lift. From the mountain station of the Alpendorf gondola, the free "ghost train" takes you to the Geisterberg on the Gernkogel after about 15 minutes on foot, or you can follow the path via the Buchauhütte to the Gernkogelalm. From here you can either discover the Geisterberg or follow the path to the right around the wooded top of the Gernkogel. You hike over a wide saddle to the Sonntagskogel. On a steep path it goes directly over the ridge to the summit.

Hochgründeck:
The hike to the Hochgründeck is rewarded with a view of around 300 peaks (Hochkönig, Tennengebirge, Dachstein, Niedere and Hohe Tauern, Kitzbühel Alps and Dientner Schieferberge). The Hochgründeck is one of the highest forested mountains in Europe and is one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in Austria. It is a hiking destination for the whole family and can be easily reached on well-paved paths from a total of 4 locations in 1 to 3 hours. You too can admire the wonderful mountain panorama and the incomparable sunrises and sunsets.

Heukareck:
The hike to the Heukareck is a difficult mountain tour and a good level of fitness, surefootedness and a head for heights is a prerequisite. Once at the top, a fantastic mountain panorama awaits you. The hike is possible either from Grossarltal or via St. Veit.

Hochkönig:
In the neighboring Hochkönig hiking region, all hikers have access to numerous idyllic alpine pastures in a wonderful mountain landscape. We would be happy to inform you which hike in the Hochkönig region suits you.

Pronebenalm in Mühlbach am Hochkönig:
The Alm is a Hochkönig herb mountain pasture with a breathtaking view of the mountain village of Mühlbach and the imposing Hochkönig massif. Special feature: The "Path of Good Thoughts" leads from the Paussbauer on a romantic hiking trail to the Pronebenalm.

Meislsteinalm:
The alpine pasture with a wonderful view is located in Goldegg and can be reached in about 1 hour from Goldegg-Weng but the Oberweng chapel or from Böndlsee from the Trogerbauer.

Hikes in the neighboring Grossarltal, the valley of the alpine pastures

Karseggalm:
At 1,603 m is the Karseggalm - a popular hiking destination for all ages. In about 1 ¼ hours you can hike to this alpine pasture. Mountain bikers are also very welcome. Like numerous other alpine pastures in Grossarltal, the Karseggalm is also located on the Salzburger Almenweg, the long-distance hiking trail through the Salzburg Pongau. At 400 years old, it is the oldest alpine hut in Grossarltal.

Bichlalm:
Probably the most beautiful view you have from the Bichlalm at 1,731 m. The panoramic view is unique - your view extends from the 3000m of the Hohe Tauern over the Grossarltal to the Hochkönig. You can reach the Bichlalm in around 1 ¾ h either comfortably and weatherproof along the forest road or via the Himmelsleiter. Mountain bikers are very welcome. On the Alm, all hikers and mountain bikers are spoiled with delicacies such as cheese, butter, bread, bacon or sausage from our own production.

Schuhflicker mountain:
On this hike you have the choice whether you want to go up to the Aualm or rather hike up. It continues uphill. In front of you is the mighty Schuhflicker, one of the three limestone mountains in the valley. The shoe patcher consists of two tips. According to legend, two shoe repairers were petrified here, who preferred to go up the mountain rather than to church instead of going to church on Sunday morning ... Numerous climbing routes lead to the Arlspitze, which is the front peak, but are only suitable for experienced climbers. The descent is to the Schuhflickersee.
